As modern parents, we all face the same challenge. The working week flies by in a blur of obligations, nurseries and schools, and when the weekend finally comes, the easiest solution is a trip to yet another shopping centre or letting the kids scroll endlessly on their tablets.
If you regularly search Google for terms like "day out with kids Zagreb", "family weekend ideas" or "where to go for the weekend with the family", you're probably already tired of stuffy children's play areas and city asphalt. It's time for a deep breath of fresh air.
As a family-oriented team, we understand first-hand how precious these shared moments are. Watching our own son and daughter soak up nature with delight, take part in shared activities and make memories in the fresh air is the main inspiration behind what we offer.
Is quad riding safe for children?
This is absolutely the first and most important question every parent asks. The answer is: yes, riding a quad two-up with a child is extremely safe, provided the rules are followed and the pace is adjusted.
Our fleet in Veliko Polje consists of top-class, hefty machines such as the Segway AT5L and Linhai 550L / 650 Landforce. These quads (so-called maxi models) aren't children's toys but serious, heavy and incredibly stable vehicles with a wide wheelbase. They're designed and type-approved for two people, which means they offer maximum comfort for the driver (parent) and the passenger (child).
Unlike racing across unfamiliar terrain, a family ride means a gentle pace, cruising along wide gravel roads and enjoying the scenery. No sudden jolts, no extreme climbs. The child sits securely behind you, holding onto the ergonomically shaped grab handles, leaning against a comfortable backrest and enjoying the panoramic view.
Recommended age: in our experience, children from the age of 6 (depending on height and physical maturity) can take part as passengers without any problem, provided they can sit stably and hold onto the parent or the integrated grab handles on the quad.
Everything you need travels with you
Every parent knows that going on a day out with children means packing half the house. Nappies, wet wipes, spare tops, snacks, juices, sandwiches and a favourite toy — all of it has to come along.
When you go on a walking trip, you carry all of that on your own back. But when you rent a quad from us, you can forget heavy backpacks. One of our biggest advantages is that all 10 vehicles in our fleet are fitted with large front and rear cases. These cases are completely waterproof and incredibly spacious.
Your quad becomes your personal, mobile base camp. Just toss a picnic blanket, lunch, plenty of water and dry clothes to change into in the case. When the kids get hungry, you simply park at the edge of the forest, open the case and your perfect meal in nature is ready.
What does your outing from Veliko Polje look like?
When you arrive at our base in Novi Zagreb, you'll be greeted by spotlessly clean and technically flawless vehicles — because our 16 years of experience in the automotive industry accept nothing less than perfection.
- Kitting out. You and your little ones receive top-quality, hygienically treated protective helmets (we also have smaller sizes made for children).
- Quick training. Dad or Mum gets clear instructions on operating the quad — they all have automatic transmissions, so riding is simpler than driving a car.
- Off into nature. We set off. Straight from Veliko Polje you join wide, flat gravel roads. No city traffic, no cars, no stress.
- An educational ride. As you cruise gently along, the family outing turns into a school in nature. Your children will get a front-row view of birds and deer in the distance and learn about the trees and the forest. An incomparably richer experience than any YouTube video.
- Picnic. After an hour of pleasant riding, you stop in a spacious meadow, take the blanket out of the rear case and enjoy family time far from civilisation.
Frequently asked questions from parents
Do we need special clothing for the children?
You don't need to buy specialised gear. Dress children in layers, in comfortable sportswear you don't mind getting dirty. Closed, sturdy trainers or hiking boots are a must. Never sandals or flip-flops. A long-sleeved windbreaker is advisable even in summer, because of the ride and to protect against branches.
Can we put two children on one quad?
The legal and safety standards are clear: a quad is registered exclusively for two people (one driver and one passenger). The ideal combination for a family of four is renting two quads — Dad rides with the son on one, Mum rides with the daughter on the other. That doubles the fun.
What if a child is frightened by the engine noise?
Our modern Linhai and Segway four-stroke engines have a smooth, controlled sound, without the aggressive noise racing models produce. On top of that, the helmets further muffle the sound. Our advice is to let the child first sit on the switched-off quad, get to know the vehicle, and only then do we start the engines. So far we've never had a child who didn't get off the quad with a big smile.
Which package should we choose for the first time?
For families with younger children we always recommend a 1-to-2-hour rental (the Quick Start or a customised half-day package). That's plenty of time for a pleasant ride, a short picnic and a return to base before the children lose focus or get tired.
It's time to make real memories
Think back to your own childhood. Do you remember the days when you watched TV in the living room, or the days when your parents took you on some wild, unexpected adventure in nature?
Your children are growing faster than you think. Don't let weekends pass in monotony. Riding a quad with children doesn't mean an extreme sport — it means quality time spent together, learning together, laughter under the helmets and breathing in clean air.
Show them that the real world is far more interesting than the virtual one.
